An Ordinance to remove doubts as to the validity
of certain marriages solemnized in the Colony of Hong
Kong.
WHEREAS doubts have been entertained with respect to
the validity of marriages solemnized in the Colony of
Hong Kong between the

the period during which the Registrar of Marriages ceased
to perform his duties owing to the invasion and occupation
of Hong Kong by Japan, and it is expedient to remove
those doubts.
BE IT THEREFORE ENACTED by the Governor of Hong Kong, with
the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof,
as follows:-
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Hong Kong Marriages
Validity Ordinance, 194

The marriages solemnized in Hong Kong between the
respective parties specified in the second and third columns
of the Schedule upon the approximate dates specified in the
first column thereof, by the Ministers specified in the fifth
column thereof, are, and have been since their celebration, as
valid as they would have been if the places specified in the
fourth column of the Schedule had been duly licensed under
Section 3 of the Marriage Ordinance, 1875 (hereinafter referred
to as "the Ordinance") and as if the formalities prescribed
by the Ordinance had been complied with. PROVIDED that this
Ordinance shall not render valid any marriage which before
the passing of this Ordinance has been declared invalid
by any Court of competent jurisdiction or affect any right
dependent on the validity or invalidity thereof or render
thereofjor
